Rae is a 2nd year PhD student interested in all things microbial ecology. Her current projects explore small-scale microbial community variation and the effects that particulate organic matter influx play on these changes. Previous work has involved identification of extreme microbes in NASA Jet Propulsion laboratory cleanrooms and eluciation of stress-response proteins in halophilic archaea.
